| Troutbum I - The Basics 2 1/2 hours Our starter class will teach you the basic skills needed to start out fly fishing. We cover topics such as gear, knots, wading safety, stream entomology, types of flies and 2 basic casting techniques. You'll receive friendly, on-water instruction on private ponds for an experience that will have you "hooked". Come learn a great sport in the beautiful surroundings of the North Idaho mountains. This class is focused on the first time and novice angler but all ability levels are welcome. Rod and reel provided or you may bring your own. Troutbum II - The Next Step 2 1/2 hours Want to learn to think like a trout? Find where they hide. How and what to cast to them? In this class you will learn advanced casting techniques and presentations for handling different types of water and situations such as distance, pocket water and casting across different currents. We focus on technique and accuracy. You'll also learn about stream entomology, reading water to locate "fishy" spots, fly selection and different techniques to fish dry flies, nymphs, wet flies and streamers. This is a great class for any level angler wanting to improve their skills and learn new ones. Students should be comfortable with the basic overhead cast and basic roll cast for the Troutbum II class. Rod/reel, leaders,tippet and flies are provided for classes or you are welcome to use your own gear. Classes are limited to 4 students in order to provide the utmost in personal attention.
