Our Custom Fitting Process

Step 1: Interview
One of the easiest ways for me to figure out which rod may match you best is to discuss your
needs! Whether it be by
email or phone, I want to hear what you are looking for in a rod--
whether it be an ultra-fast action cannon, a light, sensitive rod, a fish fighting broomstick... Once
I know more about what you want your rod to be able to do, I can work towards getting you an
exact match!

Step 2: Casting Test
To provide me with an accurate baseline for analysis, I request that you do the following casting
test-- it's easiest with a friend running the stopwatch and counting your casts.

Use a 9'0" 5 weight fly rod with WF5F line
Extend 30' of fly line past the tip of the rod
Set a stopwatch or timer to count down 1 minute
False cast the fly line continuously for 1 minute
Count the number of complete casts (forward and back) that you make during the timed period.
For more accurate results, repeat two or three times
Send me your average casts per minute number, as well as the physical weight, manufacturer &
model number of the rod that you've used (this is VERY important in order to calibrate your
results!).

Step 3: Recommendation
I will analyze your casting test  as well as any input you've given me, and give you a
recommendation for a rod from my lineup. 95% of the time, one of our rods is a great match-- if
I don't have anything that exactly matches what you're looking for, I'll tell you that, too, and
give you pointers about who might be able to help you! I want to make sure you're happy with
your purchase, even if it's not from me!
